My friend of 15 years, Ann Kelley, has died after a three-and-a-half year battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was 41.
Ann and I felt close to each other from the day we met. We talked about everything, but more often than not we talked about our romantic lives, even after we were both married to other people. No matter how many weeks or months had passed, our conversations picked up right where they left off. We told each other everything.
My wife was in the hospital this week, so I didn’t get the chance to go see Ann, but I don’t feel it was a loss. She knew I loved her, and I know she loved me, without a doubt. Friendships like the one I had with Ann are rare and beautiful. I will miss her.

When I moved to the Lakeview area of New Orleans in 2001, Ann Kelley was the one who unpacked and organized my entire kitchen. I loved posing for photographs with her in City Park, and driving with her to Grand Isle. Her loss to this world is incalculable. Please extend my deepest sympathies to her entire family.
She looks like your sister.
Sorry for your loss. Speed reading because I should be on my way to work. I will read this very soon. My computer is better now. Very sorry for the loss of your friend and my heart and prayers go out to all of her family and loved ones.
What an amazing thing to have a friend like Ann!
