Okay, Yes, I Mowed the Pond

Abby and I have guests coming this weekend, fellow photographer Matthew White and his significant otter, my longtime friend Michelle Bullard. They came last September, and we all had a great time.

To prepare for their visit, I have tidied up our RV, which will be their guest house. I bought some extra 9mm and .22lr ammo, which we will need because one of the reasons especially Matt likes to come up is that we can shoot as much as we want down at the pond.

Thus, since I wanted it to be neat and tidy, tonight I mowed the pond. I know this is a sad commentary on the effects of the current drought here in the south, but instead of water, the pond has been a dry, flat spot since May. It had weeds and grass sprouting up all around, so I decided mowing it would clean it up nicely, so we can put our targets and old saucepans and water jugs in the middle of it to shoot.

So, yes, I mowed the pond.

Our pond in greener, wetter days; we haven't seen any water in it since the end of May this year.
