“All the Gold Dust in Her Eyes…”

The first part of our Labor Day weekend is over, the part with the visit from Matthew White and Michelle Bullard who drove from Houston yesterday. Last night Matt rode along with me while I worked football, while Abby and Michelle watched a movie. Today we went to town and grabbed some breakfast, which we brought home and shared along with endless, spiraling conversation. By 11:30, we gathered our modest arsenal of firearms and piled them into the RV, which we drove down to the pond and set up as our gun range break room. We then spent much of the afternoon honing our shooting skills, challenging each other, using our guns to shred old milk cartons and water jugs, and generally having a terrific time.

This is typical of the animated conversation style Matt brings to the table.

By late afternoon, we were all tired, and shared a big meal together and talked and talked.

After we parted company and they retired to the RV for the night, Matt posted this to his Facebook wall: “Just enjoying stargazing at the Milkyway with my girl on a beautiful clear night far from city lights. I love being a nerd!”

Just a few mimutes later, Michelle posted this on Facebook: “Had an amazing day with friends today!! Topped off with some star gazinging with my man. Haven’t seen the milky way in years. #GreatDay.”

Holding my assault rifle, I watch as Abby and Matt take turns using Abby's father's shooting bench at the pond today.
