Bainbridge, Oregon (AP) – Fallout from Superstorm Sandy has influenced conduct of the 2012 election. Due to delays in infrastructure repair and the abilities of voters to get to the polls, the election has been split into two phases. Those voting for Democratic candidates are slated to vote today, while those voting for Republicans are scheduled to vote next Tuesday, Nov. 13.
“It’s the only way we could get everyone a fair chance to vote,” said Chancey Johnston, Electoral College Associate Administrator.
Independent voters’ ballots will not be included in this year’s election results.
