Today I was doing my usual rounds of letting the internet take me here and there. I started with Q. T. Luong’s excellent Terra Galleria web site since I am starting to think Abby and I might go to southern Arizona for our anniversary in October, and I know Luong has photographed all of America’s national parks, and photographed them well.
While looking at his Saguaro National Park gallery, one of his images featured a beautiful sunstar (the points of light from a bright light source in an image), which led me to click on his home page so I could click on his equipment page and find out which of his lenses makes these nice sunstars.
That’s the way web browsing should work – curiosity leads to ideas which lead to more ideas, and so on, not just refreshing the page to see if someone commented on your Facebook status.
Anyway, in this process I saw that Luong was offering a guided photo tour of The Maze District at Canyonlands National Park, which I visited last year. I clicked the link for the tour and read along until I came to these words: “Backpacker Magazine once rated the Maze the riskiest of America’s 10 most dangerous hikes.”
I have to say, that’s just so cool.
