Goodbye Grocery List

Since we’ve been married, Abby and I have kept a grocery list on a magnetic board above the coffee maker in the kitchen. We jot something on it when we run out. I’m sure a lot of households work this way.

It’s been a bit of a comedy of errors for us, since we sometimes forget to tear it off and bring it to town, and we can’t really read each other’s handwriting. Sometimes we can’t even read our own handwriting.

Today, the era of the paper grocery list has ended. Now that we both have iPhones, I told our iCloud account to synchronize our Reminders app. We used it today, and it worked perfectly. I was shopping on one side of town, and she on the other, and as we picked something up to buy it, we’d check it off the list, and it would automatically check off on the other’s list at the same time.

Pretty frappin’ cool, if you ask me.
