I know this isn’t a food blog, and I don’t want to be like the Facebook and Twitter foodies who post every flippin’ thing they put in their mouths. At the same time, I want to share this because it is so positive.
I had some business in Ardmore, Okla., yesterday, and Abby suggested I swing by New China King, a tiny storefront restaurant run by non-English-speaking people who make what I can only describe as our all-time favorite food: for Abby, shrimp with Chinese vegetables, and for me, broccoli with fried tofu.
I feel like these are nutritious meals, and quite enjoyable. I got two large orders for each of us, which makes three meals each, and packed them in a cooler for the hour-long ride home. When I got home and pulled them out, they were still too hot to touch.
A hallmark of good Asian cuisine is that it’s served uvula-scalding hot.
