Unsafe
by Richard R. Barron
What do you keep from me to spare me?
The countless ways to say goodbye?
The action that is filled with light and darkness?
My selfish little tragedies?
The moment of darkness between us?
Remorse? Chaos? Vulgarity? Clarity? Rage?
A beautiful moment of tenderness that I ruined by merely witnessing it?
The single dark year that vanished beneath me?
That single dark moment that awaits?

The Hollow
by Richard R. Barron
I am chilled to my bones thinking about holding your hand.
The hollow of your hand is silence. Purity. Clarity.
Before I got to know your hands, I imagined they would be the softest hands in the world.
On the day I held your hand for the first time, I found out I was right.
To this day I am still driven to silence, and chilled to my bones remembering your hands.

Circles
by Richard R. Barron
Life flows in circles
And circles flow in spheres
Here I am
Time and time again
Where I began, moving on and on
Slow dancing with my imagination
Unafraid
Emptied by my honesty
All this waits
Coiled inside me
Some day we will take hold of each other
All this will come pouring out
Breathe steam
Smile
Hold each other close to keep warm
Whisper
Laugh
We watch the sun set
Into a night that never ends
