Abby and I are feeling somewhat stressed the last couple of days. Yesterday (Monday) I drove her truck to Oklahoma City because the alarm/remote start we had installed last month was seriously malfunctioning. The electronics place thought they had it fixed, but after leaving there, I made a stop to photograph the SkyDance Bridge. When I got in the truck, it malfunctioned again. The alarm goes off and blasts the horn and siren, and can’t be stopped as it should using the remote key fob. It’s very disruptive. I returned to the electronics place and they made some adjustments. I tested it twice on the way home, and it seemed to be working normally.
In the middle of a stressfully busy day at my newspaper, Abby called to say it was blasting away in the parking lot at her office, and the remote wouldn’t stop it. She put it in “valet mode,” in which she can only lock it and unlock it with the key, which, while far less disruptive, is also far less than what this rather expensive accessory is supposed to do, and is even less than what the truck could do before we had it installed.
The electronics place was very understanding and agreed to install an all new system, but could only get us an appointment on one of my workdays, so I have to take a personal day. When this is done, I’ll let you know who it is and how they did.
Sculpture that isn’t pointless.
