Here are some fun factoids about Richard R. Barron, Abby S. M. Barron, and A. Mitchell Garis...

-Richard has been a licensed private pilot since May 1, 1993. 

-Richard has been a licensed amateur radio operator, callsign KC5TFZ, since March 11, 1996.
-Richard has been a vegetarian since 1989, and a devoted vegan since 1994. He, Anne Roberts, and David Martin "went vegan" on January 1, 1994, on a bet.

-Richard and Abby together have about 750 music CDs.

-Sometimes when you put "Abby Milligan" into a search engine, you get drag racing results, which are hers, like this one.
-Abby scored highest in her concealed weapons permit class.
-Abby knows how to rebuild an engine.

-Abby was a restauranteur at one time, owning a Galvez, Louisiana, diner called "Abby's Restaurant." 


-Mitchell is actually the biological son of Gwyn Garis, Abby's sister, who passed away in 2000. Abby is his guardian.
-Abby drives a vintage Toyota MR-2, and a Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup, both green. Richard drives a white Pontiac Grand Am GT.

 

-Mitchell drives a 1984 Murray lawn tractor. 

-When Richard bought his Grand Am, he sold his Chevy Cavalier Z-24 to one of his best friends, Jamie.  +

-Abby has had dozens of jobs over the years, but none she loved better than in a vet clinic. Her love of animals has been present all her life, and has lead to her owning or caring for 2 cows, 4 goats, a monkey, 4 chihuahuas, 2 Irish wolfhounds, 2 dobermans, a German wire-haired pointer, a poodle, 2 miniature horses, 6 teddy-bear hamsters, 10 parakeets, a cockateel, a bullfrog, a rabbit, 12 horned toads, a hedgehog, 12 chickens, 6 gerbils, a German shepherd, a pit bulldog, 20 or so cats, a border collie, 5 Jack Russell terriers, an assortment of mutts, and a Saint Bernard/Great Dane cross named "Bite 'Em."

-Richard's favorite author is Albert Camus, and his favorite book is Camus' The Plague. 
-Mitchell's favorite book is Eragon by Christopher Paolini. 

-Abby's favorite book is Clan of the Cave Bear by Jane Auel. 

-Richard has a digital library of approximately 10,000 fine art, personal and stock images, in addition to his news work.
-Abby has a library of about 200 books on CD. Richard and Abby have about 2500 printed books.
-Richard has had aerobatic training in the Cessna 150 Aerobat, and the Beech T-34. He especially likes spins.
-Abby and Mitchell's favorite color is green. Richard's is white.
-Mitchell, Richard and Abby each have their own favorite songs, but together their favorite song is "Crystal Baller" by Third Eye Blind.
-Abby's driver's license says her eyes are brown, which they are not. Her eyes are green.

-Abby has more than 50 wristwatches, and more than 50 pairs of reading glasses. 

-Richard's driver's license and pilot's license both say he has blond hair and blue eyes. When he was growing up, his hair was shocking red, but actually is blond now.
-Richard and Mitchell both like to play the computer video games Quake III Arena, and Unreal Tournament. Richard plays under the screen name "mrselfdestruct" and Mitchell is "demonofjakai."

-Abby's favorite flower is the Indian Paintbrush.     Richard's is the iris.

-Abby used to ride Harley Davidson motorcycles. She once rode to Georgia and back. 

-Richard is an Oklahoma Blood Institute five-gallon donor. He mostly donates plasma.
-Abby was married once before, for 23 years, to Paul Milligan, until he passed away in 1992. Richard has never been married until now.
-Mitchell likes Granny Smith apples. Richard prefers Fuji or Gala. Both have recently discovered an apple they like called "Cameo."
-Richard likes to garden now that his home is in the country. He mostly grows tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, and strawberries. In the spring of 2006, the garden also featured spinach, five kinds of lettuce, green onions, red onions, and green beans. The "patch" on the west end of the property where our home is located is a giant blackberry bush.
-Richard's family had a one-eyed, three-legged Labrador retriever when he was growing up, named "Pepper."

-Richard, Abby and Mitchell use Apple computers.

-Richard has been writing in a journal since 1978, when his tenth grade English teacher started him on it by assigning it for class. He seldom misses writing in it. For the first 20 years, he wrote in full-sized spiral notebooks, but starting on the 20th anniversary in 1998, he switched to smaller hard-bound notebooks.

Together, there are 53 volumes of journals as of April, 2006.
