Again, the Cosmic Lattice of Coincidence

Abby and I were talking about this and that, which led to me telling her that I recently found out that Dan Fogelberg’s Mountain Bird Ranch was sold. “I didn’t buy it,” Abby quipped, but my point was that I always thought it would be neat to own for the bargain price of $17,500,000. And I was saddened that the jet full of unmarked millions in drug money hasn’t yet crashed in the woods behind the pond, eventually allowing us to buy things like ranch mansions.

Seconds after we had this discussion, my desktop picture switched to this image, which I made when we stopped last October near Chromo, Colorado, just eight miles from the Mountain Bird Ranch…

This view looks north from a nice stretch of highway just on the Colorado side of the border with New Mexico.

Some might call this a sign, which it is, of my desire to see and enjoy coincidences.

  1. By some coincidence, my siblings were posting links recently to Facebook, to realty sites that sell multi-million dollar estates in Dallas & Austin. Much different of course than the apparently remote ranch in your entry. One of the houses, for $3.3 million, had a neighbor’s house close enough to fall against if you climbed the “privacy” fence. Another, for $18 million, had only four bedrooms. Crazy stuff.
