My Best Friend

As I write this, my wife Abby sleeps in the bedroom just one door away.

For this blog, I have been searching my images for the header, that cool, narrow photo at the top of the page. This theme lets me rotate the image at random, so viewers see a different image there sometimes. As I searched, I came across folders from trips to the beautiful American west, including many that Abby and I have taken together. We look back on those trips and smile, and we look forward to more travels together.

I made the image in this entry on our first anniversary vacation, which seems, suddenly, like a long time ago, even though it was in 2005. We were at Mesa Verde National Park, at Square Tower House. We’d just finished making some rather remarkable photos, and the light was just disappearing as the sun finally set. We were both a little chilly, but feeling so happy to be together making pictures on that fall day after being married just a year.

Abby is my best friend. I love her so much. I am going to bed when I finish this entry, and I will hold her close and tell her that I love her. Good night, Abby.

  1. I’ve been looking for a way to do the random photo header thing for blogger.

You are a hopeless romantic, Richard. Abby is one lucky lady.
