The High Road

The La Ventana natural arch is New Mexico's second-largest natural span, and is easily accessed on the southeast end of the El Malpais National Monument. The area is about 90 minutes west of Albuquerque.
A trail leads to an area directly under the arch. The first time I visited, that trail was closed, but in 2003 it was open and I made some very nice images from beneath the arch.
